Simeon Lazo of the Seattle Sharks was on fire against New Orleans. He shut them down 4-0 on 3 hits and no runs with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Lazo said. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
Thus far this season Lazo has posted a 7-13 record, started 25 games, struck out 86 batters in 147.1 innings and compiled a 5.68 ERA.

It was a smooth and solid performance by Wesley Winland of the New Orleans Blues against Memphis today. He crafted a fine 4-hitter in blanking them 2-0 and chalked up 9 strikeouts and 2 walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the New Orleans skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch, and enjoy."
This season Winland has worked 123.2 innings with 93 strikeouts en route to a 5-7 record and a 5.24 ERA.

 | Friday, August 23rd, 2019: North Texas's Nelson Shines, Shuts Out New Orleans
Adrian Nelson of the North Texas Stampede put the clamps on the opposition and held the New Orleans Blues scoreless in a 6-hit whitewash.
"He's got some good stuff, but we should have done better than that," said the New Orleans skipper after the 4-0 loss.
Nelson was on target most of the game and finished with 2 strikeouts and no walks.
This season Nelson has registered 9 wins and 19 losses in 33 starts with a 4.12 ERA.
